This page explains what happens to your information when you use klarsystems.com. It covers this website only. If you are a Klar customer, the handling of your restaurant's guest data is covered separately in your service documentation.

Who is responsible

Klar Systems, Helsinki, Finland, is the controller of the personal data described here. You can reach us at guidance@klarsystems.com for anything on this page, including requests to see or delete your data.

What we collect

• Your email address, if you type it into the form on our home page. That is the only thing that form asks for and the only thing it sends.
• Anything you tell us directly, by email or on a call you book with us. That is whatever you choose to share.
• Basic, aggregated visit statistics: pages viewed, rough country, device type, and where a visit came from. This is measured without cookies and is not used to identify you.

We do not run advertising trackers on this site, we do not build profiles of visitors, and we never sell or rent anyone's data.

Why we use it

• To reply to you, and to look at your restaurant's online presence when you ask us to. Our basis for this is your request and our legitimate interest in answering it.
• To understand which parts of the site are useful, so we can improve them. Our basis is legitimate interest, using aggregated figures only.

We will not add you to a marketing list you did not ask for. If we ever want to send you something beyond a reply, we will ask you first.

How we handle it

We handle personal data according to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). In practice that means we collect only what we need, use it only for the reason we collected it, keep it no longer than we have to, keep it secure, and give you the rights set out below. Where a supplier processes data on our behalf, we require the same standard from them.

How long we keep it

Enquiry emails and the messages around them are kept for as long as we are talking, and for up to two years afterwards so we have a record of what was said. Aggregated visit statistics are held only in aggregate and cannot be traced back to you. Ask us to delete your details sooner and we will.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict what we do with it, or send it to you in a portable form. You can also object to processing we base on legitimate interest. Email guidance@klarsystems.com and we will answer within one month. There is no charge for this.

If you think we have handled your data badly, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi).

Cookies

This site sets no advertising or profiling cookies. Analytics are collected without cookies, which is why you are not asked to dismiss a consent banner on arrival.

Changes

If we change how any of this works, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
